Monk

The Monk channels Ki — discipline given form — into a fighting style built on evasion and precision rather than armor or brute force.

Overview

RoleMelee damage / Evasion
Difficulty⭐⭐ Medium
Magic sourceKi
Main weaponsOne-handed sword (placeholder)
Starting equipmentBlue linen vestments (placeholder)

Playstyle

The Monk relies on being hard to hit rather than hard to kill: high evasion and high magic evasion let it slip through attacks that would flatten a heavier class, at the cost of the raw health pool a Warrior enjoys. Ki is not a school of Arcane or Divine spellcasting — it's treated in Xindeler's system as its own resource, "the Song flowing through a living body," powering the class's abilities the way energy powers a Mage's spells.

Current Status

The Monk is fully playable today — selectable at character creation, with its own stats, identity, and starting kit. Two pieces of its intended design are still in progress: the unarmed/ki-focused weapon system isn't implemented yet, so the Monk currently fights with a starter one-handed sword as a placeholder, and its dedicated skill tree is still empty and in active development. Neither blocks playing the class; both will fill in as those systems ship.

Tips

  • Lean into evasion — the Monk's survivability comes from not getting hit, not from soaking damage.
  • Don't expect an unarmed moveset yet; the current sword is a stand-in until the weapon system lands.
  • Because the skill tree is still empty, differentiate your Monk through positioning and timing rather than build choices for now.
