History of the World
The world of Xindeler has a history that spans six great ages. Each age left its mark on the physical world, on its inhabitants, and on the powers that still operate in the shadows.
The Six Ages
I — The Worldsong
The beginning of everything.
Before the world had form, there was Chaos. The young gods — the Luminaries — came to it and tamed it with their collective song. From that Worldsong the world emerged: the land, the sky, the sea, and the first sparks of life.
Not everyone who participated in the Worldsong had good intentions.
II — The Age of Dawn
The young world and its first inhabitants.
The first mortal races awakened in a world still fresh. The Luminaries walked among them, or at least could. It was an age of wonders, but also of an innocence the world would never have again.
III — The Rupture
Something broke. The world was never the same.
The historical records of this age are fragmentary and inconsistent. What is known with certainty is that something fundamental changed — in the fabric of the world, in the relationship between gods and mortals, and in the balance of forces that had until then been maintained.
The details of The Rupture are one of the great mysteries of Xindeler's lore.
IV — The Age of Wonders
The apex. Cities that touched the sky.
Civilizations of unprecedented power flourished in the world. The Floating Cities — arcane empires that defied gravity — marked the peak of this age. Magic reached its highest point, and with it, the hubris of those who controlled it.
This age ended in a way no one forgot.
V — The Great War & The Great Extinction
The collapse. The wars that ended everything.
From the ashes of the Age of Wonders emerged the most devastating conflict the world had ever known. Forces that had been chained were unleashed. The great civilizations did not fall alone — they collapsed upon each other. What followed was not one war but many, simultaneous, unstoppable.
The Great Extinction is the name survivors gave to the result: the end of nearly everything that existed. The floating cities crashed. Dynastic lines ended. Entire species vanished from the map. Only a few centers of power survived, and they did so at a cost they still don't speak of openly.
The details of who unleashed the Great War — and why — are part of the deepest lore of Xindeler.
VI — The Second Dawn
The present. The survivors rebuild.
The Second Dawn is the name historians give to the current period: the slow reconstruction of the world after the Great Extinction. It is the moment in which Xindeler as a game takes place.
Players arrive in a world that still bears the scars of the past. The empires that once existed are ruins or legends. The factions that survived struggle to define what comes next. And the forces that caused the Great Extinction have not disappeared entirely — they only wait.
"There are those who say the history of Xindeler is a cycle. That what happened before can happen again. That the same forces that destroyed the Age of Wonders are still here, waiting."
— Fragment of a text of unknown origin, found in the ruins of Eon
The full history, with all its actors, betrayals, wars and secrets, is revealed progressively as the game unfolds.
